Yes, Yes, Yes… I Know It's Broken

Yes, the website isn't exactly "working" right now. I know. And I'm sorry for the seven and a half people out there who give a damn. It'll get fixed soon... I promise. Hey, at least it's not pink anymore, right?

In other news, I just picked up a copy of The Transporter and watched it for the second time. Now, while I have all sorts of issues with the movie, it's still a good time. I mean, enjoyable as hell, but fundamentally flawed in all sorts of ways. For example adding in CG tracers to the gunshots so you can see how everyone is shooting, and everyone is missing -- but only by a little -- is not only distracting and visually jarring; it also happens to be the stupidest thing I've seen in a movie since I saw a romantic scene written by George Lucas. All bitches aside, it's still a really fun, albeit stupid, movie. Which brings me to a film that opened up last Friday. The Transporter 2: Transport Harder, or whatever they want to call it. Maybe it should be Transport with a Vengeance... that'd be cool. And Frank could meet up with a black taxi driver named Zeus and they could transport together... and in the end, even though they fight a lot, they might end up falling in love and adopting a nice Puerto Rican boy... ... then again, maybe that wouldn't work so well. Anyways, here's a little excerpt from a review of Trans2...

"This film is an embarrassment. There is too much great talent here wasted on such an utter piece of s*t. Besson’s script and producing, Leterrier’s directing and Staham’s ability of playing a total badass - all of it spent on a worthless hour and a half that only fans of Torque and Stealth will find remotely amusing." -- Some Guy

... ... Now... I mean... I know that that guy mentioned Stealth and Torque as a way to make Trans2 sound bad... ... but... but... but I LOVED those movies... both of them. And no, I am not thinking about what my love of those movies says about me, I'm just focused on the fact that I have a $7.50 coupon to see Trans2 and that this movie looks like it'll be a win-win situation for me. It could be like the first movie, and I'll like it... it could be like the steaming piles of crap that are Stealth and Torque and I'll love it... ... and either way, I don't have to pay for it!

So, who wants to go see it with me? I'm thinking Thursday night.

I Broke It

So, I broke my website for some undetermined amount of time. My bad.

I was trying to get dynamic archives to work, but whatever it was that I did broke the pages that weren't supposed to be dynamic. Dynamic pages are currently my sworn enemy.

Yeah. I know. Overreaction. But... but... you just don't understand... when a fella goes through a step-by-step (which was a great show with Patric Duffy and Susan what's-her-face-that-hawked-the-thigh-master) instruction sheet, does everything it says exactly as it says, and then manages to break his entire website. That's a problem.

Anyways, I've not been posting much lately. I haven't had anything to say. I've been hanging out in my room a lot playing video games and getting stuff settled a bit more. Hopefully in the next week or so I can finish up in here and go find the rest of my boxes. Until that point, I'm probably going to be a bit less than prolific in my writing. I'm also seriously debating the wisdom of putting my whole entertainment center in my room. It's just a little bit too convenient. And no, that was not sarcasm. I'm very seriously thinking about moving it to the living room. There's way too much stuff in this room that can distract me. But, I'll probably just leave it where it is and learn to ignore it a bit more than I have been.

P.S. I'm going to be making clam chowder today... .... I mean, clam chowder. How good does that sound?

Well, that's Better

So, that looks a bit better, don't you think? I just noticed a problem that I never noticed before, but other than that, I'm feeling like this is all going quite well. I need to get the archive index to work, and I need need need need to get dynamic archives to work. That'll be a project for Doc to help with.

I'm definitely going to be playing at Gallagher's next week, so you should come out to see me play, and... uh... hmmm.... that's about it. I'm going to stop working on this now because I have to get to work in a few minutes. Good lord do I want to get a job where I can have weekends. Weekends would be glorious.

-Jon

P.S. I'm going to be getting the stuff off my Temporary Blog tomorrow, or maybe even tonight, so all those should be up here pretty soon. That's all. Peace folks.

Well… This is Interesting

So, I've got MT running again. I don't have archives... and I'm pretty sure that my site looks like crap. I'm not sure where it's broken, but hopefully I'll get it fixed tomorow. Or the Next day.

Weird Fix

Well, I got rid of the whitespace on the sidebar. And that was a bizarre fix, let me tell you. Only, I'm not going to tell you. I'm going to go away from the web design for a while, because... well, I've got other stuff I need to get done this week, and today is about the only day I have to do it. So, peace ya'll.

Urge to Kill Rising

So, I've worked on the redesign of my site a whole bunch this weekend. I'm happy with the results I've had so far, mostly. I have a style switcher in and working for ya'll, I've got no less than three completely different layouts for the site, and I got trackbacks worked into the template... I don't know if they work, and I don't care... I'm just saying.

The problems start when I look at the newest layout (LessSimple) in Internet (I Broke the Web) Explorer. See, in FireFox everything is pretty, I can do the hover-for-comments(ish) and when I hover on a link the bottom of the page doesn't up and disappear. IE, yeah... not so much. I can't figure out why the sidebar links have the whitespace, why when I hover over said links the bottom of the page just vanishes, and why Internet Explorer has to suck so damn hard. That third thing is more just a general complaint. Anyways, take a look at the TestBed, and let me know if you like, don't like, changes you'd like to see, or solutions to problems you might have. Also, for ya'll Safari usin' folks out there... check out the layouts for me to make sure they -- you know -- work, and I'll give you a cookie.

Testbed

Yo folks... I'm working on the new site again... if you've got a browser that doesn't suck and supports multiple styles w/out me having to write the switcher myself, you'll recognize the second style on the page... but... lemme know if there are any problems that you see and if you want to get into the code itself, lemme know if it's all dirty and gross or if it's pretty and makes you want to go "Hmmmm." (as in, it is a thing that makes you want to go "Hmmm...").

Check it.

Dilema

I don't even know if I spelled that right. Ahh well, such is life... when you're quite a bit buzzed. Ahhh, beer... the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems...

So, I was thinking about Jaming with someone this weekend. Saturday to be specific. However, I just got offered a gig for saturday, and... ... well, it's really hard to turn down money to make music. Course, I played for only a couple of minutes this evening and my fingers are already feeling a bit sore. I'm thinking perhaps just jam on Wednesday, and then play a gig on saturday. What do you think?

Also, I want to find a way to include my quotes onto my redesign, but not use PHP. PHP is slow and kinda clunky for what I'm doing -- it's not dynamic, and it's not going to change that often. I was thinking using an external (Blogger writen) .js file to define a variable, then use some inline javascript to write the variable, but it didn't work. I'm not sure why. Any suggestions on solutions to my so-called problem?

BLOODY IE!!!

Yeah. I hate Internet Explorer. It can't handle the Box model, it can't handle alpha chanels, it can't handle pseudo clases, it can't do much of anything right, and yet I'm willing to bet that about 99% of the people reading this are using it. Don't. Stop. It's evil and will steal your soul, take your children and give you herpes. Not to mention make beautiful websites look totally ugg. I'm not worrying about it now, if you want to see how the site's supposed to look, check it in Firefox.

Now I'm going into Manhattan.

Disclaim

Jo, I totally forgot about IE. It's a bastardly little s**t isn't it? Ahh well, that's gonna be phase two of the project. Phase one is mostly complete... the current version of the redesign is looking pretty good in Firefox, aside from a few noteable exceptions. 1) The Colors are completely and totally placeholders. It is just as posible it'll stay as it is as it will end up shades of cotton candy. 2) the text formatting of the blog itself hasn't been touched yet. 3) I'm still looking for ways to make the title graphics smaller (in file size).

Anyways, I'm gonna go check it out in IE, and see what needs fixing. Laters yo.
