What the hell? Seriously? Cuil.com is trying to best Google at it's own game. Which is interesting. Because it's run by ex-googlers. Anyways, (and I just re-googled myself, and damnit... there it is again) Cuil just helped me find an MP3 site that lists one of my songs. Not all of them, despite my hosting them all at the same place. Just the one. It's fucking weird. And, I like that it's somehow available somewhere that other people might be able to find it, however I have a few issues, and I'm going to list them here.

Namely, I don't like that that the only song that beemp3 links to is freaking Give Up. I have a love hate relationship with that song, and it's less than my favorite that I have up there. More than that, however, is that the terms and conditions that they have on their site are expressly and completely contrary to the terms and conditions that I have on my site. Namely that the songs are free to be shared, share them, just give me credit and don't profit off their use of them. Hell, I even give people permission to remix them however they want (please, I beg someone to remix one of my songs. I mean it. Please, I would love to hear that). I'm writing them a terse e-mail.

Also: this isn't going to be my only post tonight, the web has sucked me in, and I'm going to get 3-4 hours of sleep tonight, and I'm ok with that. Alright, my anger at someone deciding to share but one of my songs is fading, I'm moving on to bigger fish.

P.S. It is, however, super neat to see my music on the same site as illegal copies of the Mama Mia soundtrack, Beck, Kid Rock and Mariah Carey. Especially since I didn't put it there.

Sweet, Like Heroin

I'm typing on a keyboard, a full sized, non-illuminated from the bottom, honest to god keyboard, and I swear it's like using heroin for the first time. .. ... or I would, if I'd ever used heroin the first time... by the time I realized what happened it was more like the fourth time. Ahe the rest of the 80s were a blur. But I digress.

That was me trying to make the best of the fact that I just handed my precious precious lappy (Trillian) off to a DHL driver who probably makes less than I paid for in a month. No, really. I don't even make what I paid for it in a month... and with it's contents... it's priceless. But, alas, when the damn thing wont boot, sound wont play when it does, and I have this hideous pattern of horizontal lines that follow my mouse around like a shadow, it's time to say, "FIX THIS THING!!! PLEASE!!!!" And they will. Or I will slay them.

Also: I just took a look at a website, and -- as I do from time to time -- I looked at the source code. And I found out about the "DL" tag. The Definition List tag. The tag that has inspired me to redo the entirety of my website sometime in the next 47 weeks. But by the end of December of this year. .. ... Which marks two things that I've now pledged on doing this year of our lord two thousand, zero hundred, zero tens and seven. The other, of course, is to record an album.

The album will come, but it may be a bit in the making, becase to make it I'm going to learn how to use Garageband well enough to actually, like... record an album. Which is far beyond my current abilities in the program currently which involve things like saying "Hey! Look! A MENU!!!" Which is less than helpful when trying to record an album.

I am not, at this point, pledging to maintiain this website in any meaningful way for a bit... eventually, yes. Right now, no. Soon I will ask your patience and guidance and love... for now, courage.

There is a Phone Call that Needs to Be Made

I need to practice me some guitar. I need to go to the doctor to find out what I did to my wrist last time I played. I need to call the booking agent that handles everything at Cheeseburger in Paradise here in the Zoo. That's right. I've got a guaranteed in at the place. How much does that rock? All I've got to do is call the dude and say, "Yeah, John the manager wants me to play up there, book me Dan-O." So... ... why haven't I called yet?

Well. I've been working a lot. And I've been sleeping a lot, although -- I haven't been getting particularly rested. Anyways, I'm going to call him this week.

Alright. I've gotta get ready for work. It is calling.

Two Weeks, Two Shows

On with the shows, eh? I'm playing an early show tonight, which rocks. Shannon is coming out, which rocks. I'm thinking that it's quite likely that I'm going to get offered a job by the end of next week, which rocks. I don't have to be back to my job until Tuesday, which rocks. All in all, this should be a good weekend, which rocks. Now I must pack the car, which sucks. Later.

Wounded Again

So, yesterday was a bum day... it was gray, I got canned from Shanks, and all in all it was kinda piss poor. Work wasn't too bad, then I went up to Boomerangs and Joey was up there, and how freaking cool is that?

Anyways, ya'll should check the Calendar because there's a show in Dowagiac on May 19th. That's right everybody, Dowagiac. Hopefully someone'll be there, but if not. Well... perhaps it's time I stop playing for my friends, and start playing for... you know... everyone else.

If you're free, of course, you can hitch a ride with me. *grin*

So it doesn't look like I'm going to be playing at Shanks anymore. It seems that some people left when the girl got up to sing on Friday. Now, seeing as how I never met her before, and it was the owner of the bar that gave the Ok to have her get up to sing a song, I'm really not sure why it is that they don't want me to come back. Of course, they've never seemed too keen on me, and they're so mind-bogglingly disorginized and uncommunicative that as much as I want the gig, I'd almost be just as happy to not play there again.

Anyways, that's just not the conversation that I wanted to have today... but I guess that's the way that the cookie crubmes, eh? Aight, well... if you've seen me play Shanks and want me to go back, give'em a call and let them know, would you?

Last night I played a show at Shanks, thanks to all who came, and it was good. Weirdness with where I ended up setting up. Much better location, if I hadn't had my own mains blasting into my ears. It's time for in ear monitors. It's time for more shows. It's time for the band to get up and running. It's time for the the Calendar to have more entries. BTW: the calendar is so F**king hot. Doc has outdone himself. It's just dead sexy. I want to make out with it.

Aight, I'm off... work calls.

It Lives… ish

The SongGame site is almost alive. It's really kind of ugly right now, but it'll get there. I need to tweak the grey, and make the text look right, add in some drop shadows (still need to decide how to do that) and put in the real content. There are also some real below-the-surface type problems that I'm really not sure how to fix. Anyways, that's the site as it is right now... and now I'm going to find food or bed... or both.
