Well Now

So. I have to be at work in something like four hours. I am not tired, and I don't wanna sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a long day...

Hang Tough

Saturday mornings were a special time for me as I was growning up. First there were the cartoons (they don't really exist on TV anymore, at least not the way they did). Thundercats, Smurfs, GI Joe, Voltron, Transformers, and so many more. They were a part of who I was, and who I am. They, seriously, were role models... and I don't think that I'd be the person I am today without those silly ass cartoons. People, robots, things, whatever doing good for the sake of good. Perhaps they freaked out if they thought the Viper was coming and it turned out to be a window wiper, so what? They were falible. So what if the only robots with artiulating mouths were the badguys? It was about good versus evil.

Later, it was more complicated. WWF. Not the WWF with the panda in it's logo. The WWF with the Lumberjack, Hulk, Jake the Snake, the British Bulldog, the Bushwackers, Andre, and the Ultimate Warrior. There was more ambiguity there. There was always a good guy and a bad guy, but it was strangely ok to root for the badguy. The Macho Man burning Hogan's face with flash paper.. that was a moment. A moment that will live in infamy for years. And yet, I never knew who I was really supposed to be rooting for. And it was ok that I didn't. WWF was mindless fluff. Sure, but is that really a bad thing? It got worse as time went on.

American Gladiators. That was when good vs evil became less about who was in the right and who was in the wrong. It was more about how you looked at it. It was a competition, but there wasn't a clear cut good guy. There wasn't a clear cut bad guy. The only evil on that show was the mullets. Mullets ruled and it was evil. Beyond the hair, everyone was good, everyone was bad, everyone could be rooted for equally and as enthusiastically. Personally, by the end, I rooted for Ditka, and that's about where my enthusiasm for any particular person ended. The mustache was amazing, and nothing could stop it.

Gladiators is on ESPN Classic now. Which.. well... I find that just funny. Silly. Irreverant and irrelivant. They are, honestly, showing a program that was created to be 60 second "contests" of athleticism in the most insane ways. They are bringing back the time of Nitro, Turbo, Blaze and Ice. And, really. Am I the only one who thinks that it's wrong? Now, don't get me wrong. It's so, so right, but... I feel a little dirty with the ammount of knowledge I have about a 15 year old show where people compete in made up games and then run the Eliminator. I know, by seeing which events they're showing, how far along they are in the show. I know the announcers, and I know the fucking ref. Larry Miller. "Red Ready?! Blue Ready!?"

It's a dirty, dirty obsession I have, and I would honestly purchase an American Gladiators Season DVD. Does that make me a bad person?

Alright. I must away to bed now. I have to be at work, for a training, in less than 6 hours. That means it's another 4-5 hour night of sleep for the Jon, and the Jon doesn't get along with that anymore. I'm definately feeling my age. And American Gladiators on ESPN Classic isn't helping.

Oh. My. Lord.

I did not find this. Well, I did. But on a website. That wasn't The Wiki. But this is the funniest joke I've heard in months. And if you don't think it's funny, you're not a geek like me.

Atomic

So, you don't want to hear this, but I feel like sharing. I won't say a lot, and I won't go into details, but I just dropped a bomb the likes of which haven't been seen since Nagasaki... ... and I feel so much better.

Bachelor party news, grill boy, Toronto, and other updates coming soon. I promise.

Well Then…

I'm not really tired, but I should probably go to bed. I probably wont. Because I'm not tired. I'm also trying to make a new masthead/title-graphic for my new webiste. I don't know what exactly I'm going to make, but I just threw something together and it looked absolutely horrendous. Really... middleschoolish in it's layout and such. It was... it was just aweful. Which sucks, because I don't want to be aweful. So, if you have any ideas as to what I could do with a title graphic, lemme know. I'll take your ideas into consideration and then I'll probably ignore them and do something completely different. I'm also considering renaming the site. It feels like it's time. More to come.

It's a Legitimate Fear, I Caught Her Rifling Through My…

Shit. Just... damnit all. I don't know what it is that makes people do some of the messed up things that they do. War. Violence. UFC. Whatever it happens to be. These things aren't necisarily OK. Things like... Theft. Petty larsony. What would make a person steal the change from my cupholder and the cupholder from my car. Seriously. I don't give two shits about the change. It might have been as much as $10... but now when I decide to fill my mouth with the statistical 100 cows that comes in each McDonald's hamburger patty, my drink is going to fall over and spill on my leg. That's not what I'm pissed about though. It's not the drink spillage that I know is in my future. It's the Microphones that are gone, and the $300-$400 of cables that I'm going to have to replace. Because that just sucks. The bag that I got as a Christmas present from my dad that I've been hauling that crap around in... that just sucks. Really. Sucks.

So, if you're in Kalamazoo and you see someone trying to hock a SM58 or a ATM61HE, lemme know. Those things aren't cheap. And I need to have something to use on Tuesday.

Haaarrruuummmppphhhhh….

I don't want to work. I really don't. I've finnaly gotten a couple of good nights of sleep thanks to B, and I'm ready to... I don't know. Do something I feel is worthwhile. I have the feeling that that's not going to happen while I'm working where I'm working, but... it's what I have right now. I need to get my shit together and finish school. I need to pay off a little debt to do that, so... it's Jon on a Budget time. So far, I'm doing (surprisingly) well. I've stopped going out to eat as much, and... well... that's a habit that that probably drains my wallet more than any other beyod my mild T-Shirt addiction and my Extreme DVD addiction. Speaking of T-Shirts... I got a couple more today... ... ... but they're awesome. So... I guess that makes it ok?

Alright. I need to go. I have to shower and run away to go work. Starting next week or the week after, I'm gonna have to start packing for the Great Move of '07.

Quick

Real quick. We missed a couple of milestones here at Quo. This blog has not only been going on for more than Six years now (birthday is... without looking... the 26th or so of April... I'm not sure, and I'm not lookign right now to make sure).. and we've passed 2500 posts. This is 2508 actually... which means that we've been averaging just about 1.15 posts a day for six freaking years. Good greif that's a lot of me spouting off... ... ... and the party train just keeps on a rolling.
